Nilgiri, the name justifies this place of being called as the 'Blue Mountains'. The region Incorporates the present district of Nilgiri. It derives its beauty from its natural views. Located in Ooty, The Government Botanical Garden is the major attraction of Nilgiri hills. Established in 1847, it covers a huge area of 22 hectares. Tourists can find more than 650 species of trees and plants.
Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary
Situated 67 km away from Ooty, the sanctuary covers an area of 321sq km. Enriched with several rare species of flora and fauna, it also provides shelter to many endangered species. Tigers, Leopards, Elephants, Sambhar, Barking Deer, Chital, Giant Squirrel, Flying Squirrel and Crested Hawk Eagle are the highlights of the sanctuary.
Made in 1824, it is an artificial lake, which is around 2.5 km long. You can enjoy fishing, boating and other outdoor activities here.
Located at a height of 2,623 m, the peak of Dodabetta is the highest peak in the entire Nilgiri hills. Just 10 km away from Ooty, this peak is surrounded with beautiful valleys and lush greenery.
Lies in the spectacular surroundings of Nilgiris mountains, it is a beautiful vantage point. This amazing picnic spot is located 36 km away from Ooty and 12 km from Coonoor.
