Kollam or Quilon is a beautiful old port city, on the banks of the picturesque Ashtamudi Lake. Also known as the centre of cashew industry, it houses the attractions like Chinese fishing nets, Chinese water pots and boats. August to March is the best time to visit the beach.

Kollam Junction is the nearest railhead, connecting it to Mumbai, Kanyakumari and several other parts of the country.

By Road:

The city is served by three national highways. It is on NH47 that connects Salem to Kanyakumari via Palakkad.
