Nagaland is a fascinating tourist destination of Northeast India sharing its borders with Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Myanmar and Manipur. It is famous for its tribes which have their own unique culture. Dzukou Valley-The valley of flowers
It is a wonderful attraction of Nagaland which is famous for its hills carpeted with colorful flowers during Spring season. Located at an elevation of 2438 m above sea level, this valley is breathtakingly beautiful. Affectionately called 'the valley of celestial charm', it also boasts of streams, natural caves and rocks. It is also the perfect destination for camping and trekking.
Khonoma Green Village
Enveloped in lush greenery, this village boasts of dense forest housing a rich variety of flora and fauna. Orchids and bracken ferns are found in plenty here. The fascinating mountains, waterfalls, paddy terraces(where 20 types of rice are grown) and an ancient bastion are the other attractions of this village. The village has reserved about 70 sq km of its forest as 'Khonoma Nature Conservation and Tragopan Sanctuary'(KNCTS). The 'Village Council' of Khonoma has taken a big step by banning hunting not only in KNCTS but also in the entire forest area of the village. Contributing a great deal to the conservation of the environment, this village is a must-visit destination of Nagaland.
Trekking in Nagaland
Nagaland offers great opportunities for trekking. The wonderful and challenging trekking routes of this state will surely set your pulse racing. Have fun, thrill and adventure on your trekking tour amidst beautiful environment. Dzukou Valley, Mokokchung, Pungro, Mount Tiyi and Satoi Range are the famous places for trekking.
If you wish to know the history and culture of Nagaland, know its tribes and their traditions. There are several tribes inhabiting this state but the Naga tribe is the most famous. Some of the other tribes of Nagaland are Lothas, Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sumi, Sangtam, Yimchungru and Zeliang. The tribes are well known for making amazing handicrafts such as carpets, shawls, cane and bamboo products, jewelery, pottery, masks, wooden objects, musical instruments etc. The Bamboo dance, War dance and Nazu festival are the other attractions of the tribes. There are around 16 tribes in this state.

Kohima War Cemetery
It is a memorial built in memory of the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for their nation in the World War II. It is located in Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland.
It is the perfect occasion to witness the wonderful cultural activities of the various tribes of Nagaland. Providing an opportunity for inter-tribal interaction, this festival is organized by the Government of Nagaland. It is celebrated every year in the month of December at Naga Heritage Village in Kisma, 12 km from Kohima. The festival got its name from a bird called Hornbill which is known for its alertness and beauty. Religious ceremonies, tribal dances, handicrafts, parades, games and sports belonging to the Naga culture are the main highlights of the festival.

Shopping in Nagaland
Nagaland is famous for its handlooms and handicrafts. Some of the famous handicrafts are shawls, mekhelas(sarongs), hand bags, cane and bamboo baskets.
Most of the hotels in Nagaland are located in its capital city Kohima and fall into budget category. However, you will get good facilities and services even in the budget hotels.
How to Reach
By Rail: Dimapur is the main railway station.
By Road: A good network of roads connects Nagaland with Imphal, Guwahati, Shillong and Kolkata.
